INAMED Corporation manufacturers and distributes the LAP-BAND® System throughout the world. The LAP-BAND® System is the least invasive bariatric surgical approach, avoiding stomach stapling, cutting and gastrointestinal rerouting. The adjustable silicone band is placed around a portion of the upper stomach, forming a small gastric pouch and stoma. The procedure reduces the stomach capacity and limits food consumption enabling patients to experience an earlier feeling of fullness.

The LAP-BAND® System is the only US bariatric operation that can be altered after it is performed. The LAP-BAND® is connected to a subcutaneous access port allowing for post-operative stoma adjustments. The inflatable inner diameter of the LAP-BAND® can be modified to meet individual needs by adjusting the saline volume inside the band system.
